So I was driving to the engineering building the other day to do an assignment and I saw a really clean metal bumper, bronzit E30 and I felt compelled to look at it. So I turned around and pulled in. 325is with manuél stock basketweaves. I didn't have paper or pen to write a note so I went back home to get the goods. I wrote on the note that I would want to buy it if he wanted to sell. He texted me a couple hours later and turns out he's willing to sell and wants a good price. The problem is, last night I rooted my android phone and the text messages are gone...I didn't get his name and I didn't save his number as a contact so I'm lost now. Is it possible to resurrect those messages??

Call your service provider and ask for a history of the numbers texted to.

P.S. you didn't create a backup?

Well, now you know to make a backup next time. If you log on to your wireless provider's network, you should be able to get a list of numbers you recently contacted. What carrier do you have?

Do you use Google voice? Should be accessible.

I reset my old phone recently and lost 2 years fill up data. I don't backup & email myself the file.

Always, always, always backup your phone when the instructions say to backup your phone.
Now that it is rooted take advantage of TitaniumBackup and also Nandroid backup.

As for the texts, if the guy was never entered as an actual contact it's likely gone. Post on XDA or Phandroid forums and see what those guys say.

Do you still get paper bills? When I did, I used to get pages and pages of transaction information listing out each and every call and text I had made during the month. Even if you have online billing I'm sure there's a way to pull this same information from your provider.

I was able to get them from my online account! Great success. And nope no backup...my buddy did it for me and it was like 3am so I guess he forgot. Luckily I didn't lose anything else important.
